Program Alterations:
Events may be adjusted to accommodate weather conditions.

Event Format and Procedures

At Geelong Little Athletics, we run three rotating programs of events, ensuring variety and excitement each week.

Each age group competes in five events per week (Under 8 athletes compete in four events).
Event Announcements: Listen carefully to loudspeaker announcements, as each event will only be called three times. The announcement will also indicate where to marshal for the event.

Track and Field Event Process

Marshall Check-In:

Upon arrival at your event, the parent on duty will roll call participants and assign heats for track events.

Track Events:

During the initial weeks, track event heats are randomly selected.

Once athletes achieve a benchmark, heats will be seeded based on results, grouping athletes with similar times.

Field Events:

Often split into two groups to efficiently use facilities such as jump pits, throwing rings, and high jump mats.

Athletes will remain with their club and receive:

1 practice jump or throw

2 competition attempts

Between Events:

After completing an event or race, athletes can return to the Grovedale Club area to await their next event.

Navigating the Field Area

Accessing Field Events:
Use the orange cones around the track to cross into the infield.
Before crossing, ensure no circular races (e.g., 800m or longer) are taking place to avoid interference.

Safety Reminder:
Do not cross the infield directly, as javelin and discus throws occur in this area.
Always enter the field via the designated orange cones for safety.
